Adult Learning Disability Service - Day Opportunities

Friday Club - Leominster

Partnership between ECHO,, Aspire, Pump Piece and, Marshfield, contact any of the above

Club meets each Friday between 1-4pm at the Methodist Church Hall on Green Lane, Leominster. £1 weekly subscription. Activities include collating a newsletter, massage techniques and flower arranging.

Marshfield is a Social Care establishment operating in North Herefordshire. Opportunities include 4 social businesses, 1 community volunteering scheme and a service offering support for social, leisure and well-being. These are: *horticultural project - includes a contract with the Nature Trust to manage the Millennium Green *Plan it Green - information centre and retail outlet promoting environmentally sound products for the home and garden. Includes a working ground source heat pump. *Leominster Trading - produces wooden items for sale, for example horse jumps. they also have a contract with Queenswood to build and install bench seating. *Unit 5 - Bramley Business Park, office equipment recycling business *Paintbox - a shop in leominster town centre selling arts, crafts and stationery items. *Go4's/Recycling - some recycling but recently expanded into community volunteering, such as dog walking for people unable to leave their homes *Options - supports people to attend activities such as golf and swimming

         

Ryefield Centre

Social Care facility. The building is seen very much as a community resource and consequently rooms are hired by other agencies on aregular basis. ryefields works in partnership with Enviroability, a charitable company whose primary aim is to provide and promote projects which: *benefit disadvantaged groups of people *benefit the community *benfit the environment also operates LeisureLink, offering social and leisure opportunities

         

St Owen's Centre

Social care facility, Service operates mainly from one site. Other opposrtunities include: * Community Cafe - Tuesdays. volunteers sell sandwiches, tea and coffee made on premises + other pre-pared foords made at St Owens. * Coffee Club - Wednesdays in Tupsley, selling scones and other foods made at St Owens * Voluntary work placements * College links * Holistic Resource - Snoezelen & hydrotherapy pool.

         

Widemarsh Workshop

Available to people with a range of disabilities, predominantly learning disability. Initially set up to provide training in employment related skills in a hseltered environment. The centre is undergoing major change. More details later in 2006.
