Barnado's provide a short break service to support disabled children and their families in Herefordshire. Barnado's are working in partnership with Herefordshire County council and will receive all their referrals through the children with Disabilities Team at the Kite Centre (1 Ledbury Road). Two types of short breaks are offered: firstly short breaks, eg one weekend per month. Secondly sessional support, where the child/young person is supported for a number of hours each week to access community facilities.From 1 April 2009, Barnado's can offer a domiciliary care service, referrals coming through the Kite Centre. | ||||

The Independent Living Service is a domiciliary care agency regulated by CSCI (Social Care Inspection) for people who do not want to use Direct Payments but would like some control about their personal assistants. The ILS guarantees 24 hour cover and manages all the money matters involved. The ILS will work with the disabled person to get the Personal Assistant that they want. It has a person centred approach. Future plans include enabling Direct Payment User to buy hours from ILS. | ||||
